Why an egg
The egg is a whole, sealed, living-adjacent thing, and the tradition works it as a drawing vessel: passed over the body, it pulls heaviness off you and takes it into itself. The logic is the same as every removal practice in the work, from the downward bath strokes to the smoke sent out the front door. Something has to carry the condition away, and the egg volunteers.
How the practice goes
Simply and quietly. A clean, room-temperature egg, passed slowly over the body from head to feet, with prayer spoken the whole way. The Lord's Prayer and the Psalms have done this job for generations, and your own plain words serve too. Downward always, the removal direction, the same grammar as the spiritual bath. When the pass is done, the egg leaves the house, unbroken, in the trash away from your door. What it took, it keeps.
On reading the egg
Some traditions crack the egg into water afterward and read what it shows.
