5 Signs Your Space Needs a Protection Ritual

A space tells you when it needs work. Before any love work or money work gets lit in my house, the room itself gets read first, because the tradition has always held that the work lands best on clean ground. Here are the five signs I was raised to notice.

1. Your mood drops at your own door

Home is supposed to be the exhale. If walking in makes your shoulders climb instead, the house is carrying something it needs to put down.

2. The arguing picked up

When a household starts snapping over nothing, my family looked at the house before they looked at the people. Rooms hold what happens in them, and a room holding too much will hand it back to whoever walks through.

3. The house won't stay clean

You scrub and it still feels cluttered. When clean rooms still feel heavy, the mess isn't physical, and no amount of tidying will reach it.

4. Sleep got shallow

Restless nights in a bed that used to hold you fine. A kept room lets you rest. A burdened one doesn't.

5. You already know

The oldest sign is that you're reading this list nodding. You felt it before you could name it, and that feeling has always been the tradition's first instrument.

What to do about it

Cleanse the way the tradition actually calls for. Open the windows and let smoke from a cleansing incense move through the corners, then scrub with intention, back rooms first, sweeping toward the front door. Once the air moves easy, a protection light seals it. Touch Not carries protection with you between cleansings, and the protection collection holds the rest of the work. New to candle work? Start here.

No outcomes promised: the work moves with your own faith and your own footwork. But a kept house is where every other kind of work begins.
