Two pieces travel with me everywhere. How I clear a hotel room or a guest room before I sleep in it.
I do not sleep in a room I have not cleared. A hotel room holds whatever the last fifty guests left in it, and a relative's guest room holds the family's business. Before I unpack, I clear the space. Two pieces travel with me for that, and here is how I use them.
Clear The Air incense
A few sticks of Clear The Air ride in a small tin with a travel holder. When I get where I am going, I crack a window if there is one, light a stick, and carry the smoke to the door and into the corners. My grandmother swept toward the door. In a room I cannot sweep, the smoke does that job. In a hotel I keep it away from the smoke detector and burn it in the bathroom with the fan running. The full walkthrough is in How to Use Incense for Spiritual Cleansing.
Wash It Off spiritual bath
I portion enough Wash It Off for one bath into a sealed bag so the jar stays home. A tub is best. When there is only a shower, I dissolve it in a cup of warm water and pour it over myself from the shoulders down. Then I let it air dry. Downward is how a cleansing bath moves in this tradition, to take something off you. How to Take a Spiritual Bath covers the rest.
The order I work them in
Room first, then me. I clear the space before I get in the water, so I am not stepping out clean into a room that is still heavy. Both pieces are tied to 444 in the old dream books, the number of foundation, and that is exactly what this is: a floor set under you wherever you land.
Both fit in a carry-on. If you are putting together your own travel set, start there.
