Orders & Shipping
When will my order ship?
When will my order ship?
Every Geechee Mama piece is made to order in small batches, by hand, in the order it arrives. Please allow 7 to 10 business days for your order to ship. During high-volume seasons that window can stretch a little, and we'll let you know if it does. Tracking is sent automatically the moment your order is on its way, and you can follow it anytime on our Track Your Order page.

Do you ship internationally?
Canada, yes. Your rate shows at checkout and your order ships USPS. After the pour table window, international transit usually runs 1 to 2 weeks. Canada may collect GST or HST and a small handling fee when the package arrives. Those charges are set and collected at the border, separate from your checkout total. Beyond Canada, not yet.
Will anyone know what's in my package?
Will anyone know what's in my package?
No. Every order ships in plain packaging with a neutral return address (GM LLC). What you work with is your business.

Products & Ritual Guidance
What is a fixed candle?
What is a fixed candle?
A fixed candle has been dressed and prepared for a specific purpose. Every Geechee Mama candle is fixed by hand with roots and herbs chosen according to traditional Hoodoo formulas, along with the curios each working calls for, then prayed over before it ever leaves the table. That preparation is what separates a fixed candle from a plain one.
How do I work with my candle?
How do I work with my candle?
Your candle arrives ready to work, with a ritual card inside that names the best days and moon phases for that particular work. Treat those as guidance, because the work meets you whenever you come to it, any day, any hour. Set the candle on a steady, heat-safe surface away from drafts, curtains, little hands, and pets. Take a quiet moment before you strike the match. Speak your intention plainly, pray, or call on your ancestors as it burns. You can work in sessions if your schedule calls for it. When you pause, snuff the flame rather than blowing it out, and pick back up when you can sit with it again. Never leave a burning candle unattended.
What is a petition?
What is a petition?
The petition is the stated ask, the words that tell the work its job. Every working in this house carries one. Write yours plain in your own words, then speak it aloud. The full teaching, including what to do with the paper after the flame, is on the blog: How to Write a Petition.
When will I see results?
When will I see results?
I don't promise outcomes, and I'd be careful with anyone who does. Hoodoo is spiritual work. It moves with your own faith and footwork, and every situation carries its own nature. Some turn quickly. Others take their time, or answer in a way you didn't expect. Do your part in the natural world and let the work do its part.
Can I get a candle for someone else?
Can I get a candle for someone else?
Yes. Working on behalf of the people you love is as old as the tradition itself. You can gift the candle for them to burn, or burn it yourself with their name and situation written into your petition. Either way, hold them clearly in mind while the flame is lit.
What do I do with the remains when the work is done?
What do I do with the remains when the work is done?
It depends on the work. If the candle was meant to draw something toward you, bury the remains in your yard or keep them tucked somewhere safe in the home. If it was meant to move something away from you, carry the remains off your property, to a crossroads or moving water, or send them out with trash that leaves your home. The empty vessel can be washed with salt water and kept for everyday use.
What goes into your products?
What goes into your products?
Real roots, herbs, minerals, and curios, worked according to formulas that stay within this house. Recipes in this tradition have always been kept close, and mine are no different. What I can tell you is that everything inside is chosen on purpose. Nothing is filler.
How long do your oils stay fresh?
How long do your oils stay fresh?
Every bottle is stamped with its pour date. For the freshest oil, use it within 12 months of opening. The stamp reads month first, so 071926 was poured July 19, 2026. Keep your oils out of direct sun.
Are your products safe?
Are your products safe?
Our products are sold as spiritual curios, not cosmetics. Never ingest them, and patch test before applying any oil directly to skin. Burn candles and incense on a heat-safe surface, keep them clear of anything that can catch, and never leave a flame unattended. Keep all products away from children and pets.
Do you provide personal readings?
Do you provide personal readings?
I don't. Every candle ships with a ritual card for guidance, and the blog carries deeper teaching for those who want to go further.
The Brand
Is Hoodoo the same as witchcraft or Wicca?
Is Hoodoo the same as witchcraft or Wicca?
No. Hoodoo is an African American spiritual tradition, created by enslaved Africans in the American South and carried through generations of Black families, mine included. It has its own practices and its own roots, and it stands apart from Wicca, witchcraft, and the other paths it gets lumped in with online. For the fuller answer, read What is Hoodoo?
What makes Geechee Mama different?
